The wordy bit ....
The Manhattan Movers are a small social group of linedancers who meet on a Wednesday evening at the Manhattan Club in Harrogate between 7pm and 11pm. We are not an exercise class but we do have fun and dance a lot! We mainly play country and western music, but we also dance to other genres.
We have several members who enjoy the partner dances so if you would like to bring your partner then please do. If they do not enjoy linedancing, there is a bar and snooker and pool tables on site as well as a large screen showing any good matches on that day.
We have changed a little since Luke Craig started coming and teaching us so we have a mixture of ability dancers and tend to play a bit of everything. We start around 7pm when we can go over any dances or steps you are having a problem with, with most people joining us around 7.30pm. We usually get a couple of taught and refresh of new dances in until 9pm.
At 9pm we hold a raffle at £1 a strip, with prizes being donated by the dancers coming to the club and the profits from the evening go towards booking a live act where on the evening we all bring a plate of food and share it out.
We then continue dancing amd learning new dances until we have worn everyone out or it gets to 11pm whichever comes first, please note we have homes to go to so we start kicking you out after 11:15pm!
We are open to suggestions for new dances and music or even bringing back some of the golden oldies, just let us know and we can search them out for the following weeks and build it into our repertoire.
